Sarasota Hurricane Panel Installation

July 11,2018 hurricane panel and shutter update:

Well, we have  hurricane Chris, but it is out in the Atlantic and no where near the Sarasota Area.

Remnants of Beryl have reemerged near the Bahamas, but NOAA is unclear on the direction, although it appears to be North.  We all know anything can happen when formation is possible near the Florida Straits.  So just stay tuned.

Storm Shutter Installation Frequently Asked Questions

What other home services do you offer? Screen Repair, Flooring, Carpentry, Remodels, Drywall repair, Painting, and more!

Question 1:  Should I schedule a hurricane shutter appointment ahead of time?
Answer 1:  Most definitely.  The sooner the better. If you are going back up North when season ends, you should have all of your hurricane preparations ready before leaving.

Question 2:  How much does a hurricane shutter installation cost?
Answer 2:  Panel Installations/takedowns begin around $250. Prices may vary, because all house are different.

Question 3:  What if I make a reservation with Sarasota Hurricane Shutter Installers, and we never have our storm shutters put up?
Answer 3:  You don’t pay anything because there was no need. We just require a small refundable one time deposit, which will roll over to the next year.

Question 4:  Should I have hurricane panels over my doors?
Answer 4:  According to NOAA  (who also reccomends many of these answers), you should have hurricane protection over any door with windows.

Question 5:  Do garage doors require hurricane protection?
Answer 5:  Most garage doors in newer homes have hurricane reinforcements.  If you do not have high wind protection on your door, you won’t have any vertical supports.  If you have questions, we can help you with this.  Hurricane Andrew collapsed many garage doors, which allowed air to get under the roof and blow it to pieces.

Question 6:  I heard the homeowners association won’t let us put up hurricane panels?
Answer 6:  According to NO. Chapter 718 of Florida Statutes of the Comdominium Act, the association must allow you to have shutters, but they may define what they can look like etc.

Question 7:  Last year, when Irma was coming,  I felt like a worry wart by putting up my shutters 4 days before.  None of my neighbors were putting up their shutters.  About 1-2 days out, they were freaking out, couldn’t find anyone to help, unless they wanted to pay $1,000. Even though we made it through the storm OK, was it the right thing to do?
Answer 7:  YES!

Hurricane Shutter Installation Reviews

“Last year when Hurricane Irma was coming I was scared. My house came with metal hurricane panels, but I never put them on before.  I called Hurricane Shutter Installers, and they came out so quickly, and they were suprisingly inexpensive”

-Amy, Southfield Sarasota

“We are retired “snowbirds”, and before we headed back up North in April, we made sure we trusted these       guys to put up and take down our hurricane panels, if needed.  Then came Irma, they called us right away       to assure us our home in Village Walk would be taken care of…Thanks!”

      -Margaret, Palmer Ranch

During Irma, I scheduled a guy to come out and put up my shutters, and he never showed up.  I guess he        got more money from someone else.  I will make sure I hire someone I trust and make them sign a              contract saying they will put up my hurricane panels no matter what.

     -Michael, Gulf Gate

Great job on a timely installation.  You helped me prepare for the tropical storm, which turned into a           hurricane.  I’m glad I asked you to do it before it was too late. 5 stars!

      -J.M., Lakewood Ranch
